When it comes to your car’s brake system, it consists of more than just the brake pedal. Several interlocking pieces working in conjunction with one another are what make your brakes work. A problem with just one of these small pieces can be enough to cause a safety issue.

Here at Hall Nissan Virginia Beach, the mechanics in our Nissan service center can identify a few different types of Nissan repair in brakes.

Shoe Replacement

Also known as brake pads, brake shoes need to be replaced roughly every 20,000 miles to stay on the safe side. Most new Nissan cars come with an indicator that sticks out from the brake pad assembly. Our mechanics will check this when they complete an oil change during your routine maintenance inspection.

Line Replacement

Replacing your brake lines is more of an emergency brake repair. Brake lines carry fluid from your master cylinder throughout the brake system, and this fluid keeps everything well lubed and in working order. Sometimes brake lines develop holes, which allow for contamination. If this occurs, our mechanics will replace the line with genuine Nissan parts.

Master Cylinder

While the master cylinder rarely needs to be replaced, it is sometimes necessary. This component of car brakes regulates the pressure of fluid throughout the entire brake system. If plastic wears out or dirt gets into the system, the master cylinder can become less effective.

Bleeding the Brakes

This process refers to the draining of all brake fluid out in order to replace it with new fluid. It is required when brake lines have air bubbles or when dirt enters the system.
