When Nissan first set out to develop what would become ProPILOT Assist advanced safety technology, they did so with the goal of creating zero-fatality automobiles. All of the advances in safety tech the last few years have shown how realistic that future really is, especially with features like forward collision warnings, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assistance.

Currently, though, most of those features apply only to single-lane highway driving, and only with certain vehicles. Nissan hopes to expand its ProPILOT functionality over the course of the next few years, and already has announced it intends to include more of these advanced safety features in its current lineup of new Nissan vehicles. Most notably, the Nissan Altima and Nissan Rogue Sport are next in line for ProPILOT Assist.

"ProPILOT Assist is an iconic technology for Nissan Intelligent Mobility, Nissan's vision of how vehicles are powered, driven and integrated into society," said Philippe Klein, Nissan chief planning officer. "Its acceptance by consumers has been beyond expectations, and we're pleased to expand its availability to more popular models such as Nissan Altima, Nissan X-Trail and Nissan Rogue Sport."

Someday, fully autonomous automobiles will be a reality, and based on what engineers have done so far, we believe that Nissan vehicles will continue to be at the forefront of this revolution. Someday, every Nissan SUV and car will be so loaded with safety features that it will be effectively impossible to get into an accident.

If you would like to have a closer look at any of these technologies, come pay us a visit here at Hall Nissan Virginia Beach and we will be happy to show you around. We are an easy drive from Norfolk, VA, and if you buy the right car, the drive home will be even easier (and safer)!
